CONCEPT
A wall installation subverting the subject of the earring, 3 microns consists of 12 créoles (hoop earrings) arranged in an orderly square.
This work explores the contrast between mechanised and natural methods of production in order to question the impact of industry on the symbolic value of the créole. It examines the cultural and systemic erasure wrought by mass consumption on the narratives carried by our cultural objects.
The shift occurs through the self-generation of the supports: cast from a single ear-shaped mould, they become singular through the action of the living, in radical opposition to industrial homogenisation.
